Pinan Godan

Description

Pinan Godan, the 7th kata. Anko Itosu is the creator of this kata. The name Pinan translates to "peaceful and safe." Godan or Go means "fifth" or "five" making this the fifth kata of the Pinan series (5/5). The Pinan katas were adapted from older katas and made more suitable to teach younger students. This kata introduces simultaneous blocking in a modified parallel slanted horse stance, simutaneous blocking in natural stance, double-fist crossed block kneeling, open-hand cross setup, side punches in a low cat stance, and a side elbow strike.
