Pinan Yondan

Description

Pinan Yondan, the 6th kata. Anko Itosu is the creator of this kata. The name Pinan translates to "peaceful and safe." Yondan or Yon means "fourth" or "four" (Shi is another way of saying four, but Yondan is used in place of Shidan) making this the fourth kata of the Pinan series (4/5). The Pinan katas were adapted from older katas and made more suitable to teach younger students. This kata introduces simultaneous middle and lower open blocks, double-crossed fist block in a forward stance, reinforced middle block, front kick, double punches, and knee strike.
