Pinan Sandan

Description

Pinan Sandan, the 5th kata. Anko Itosu is the creator of this kata. The name Pinan translates to "peaceful and safe." Sandan or San means "third" or "three" making this the third kata of the Pinan series (3/5). The Pinan katas were adapted from older katas and made more suitable to teach younger students. This kata introduces simultaneous middle and lower block, elbow block, side strike in horse stance, grabbing, and elbow strike.
