My name is Hanson Lau and I am a 3rd year attending UC Davis. I'm pursuing a Computer Science major. My primary language is English, but I also know conversational Cantonese (spoken at home). In my free time I like to practice Karate, play badminton, and play video games with my friends. If you would like to reach out to me or connect, you can reach me with these accounts:
I have attended Creekside Elementary School, Diablo Vista Middle School, and Monte Vista High School. Currently I'm a student at UC Davis. I have taken 8 AP courses in my high school career.
Was an instructor for Juni Learning for 7 months. Providing 1:1 instruction to students from ages 8 to 18 while adapting to their needs and interests. Instructing multiple courses that involve Scratch, Python, PyGame, and Java. Keeping track of students' skill progression and providing summary notes after each class session.
I had the opportunity to tutor a kindergartener under the UNICEF club as a volunteer. Helping the student with the basics of math, comparisons, and sight words. After the volunteer opportunity, I was able to become a private tutor for the kindergartener and begin to tutor for a rate. I have taken an internship with UC Berkeley ATDP as a teaching assistant. The course taught middle school students the basics of Python. I worked for the program two times with different instructors.
I have been a practitioner of Matsubayashi Shorin-Ryu Karate since my freshman year of high school. I am currently a 2nd-kyu brown belt, certified by Sensei Eihachi Ota, Hanshi, 10th Dan. Using HTML, CSS, and a little JavaScript, I created a website showcasing the katas and history of Matsubayashi Shorin-Ryu.
